Weddings are essentially the defining part of your 20s.
You’re either going to weddings, are in weddings, or are getting married yourself (yikes). While the thought may be scary, weddings are just a big party, and parties need music. Luckily, millennials have a great taste in music. The early 2000s have GREAT party songs, and songs that top the charts currently aren’t too far away from the party category.
Get ready for some really fun weddings, millennials, because there are 100 songs that CANNOT be missed:
We all love Disney, but some of us forget that there are a number of successful animation studios that produce fantastic films, many of which you probably assumed came from Disney. Take a look at this list to see if any of your favorite movies were produced by a company other than Disney.
This childhood classic puts a fun twist on the typical damsel-in-distress storyline by replacing the handsome prince with a grumpy ogre and the grateful damsel with a sassy princess. The witty banter and occasional slips of adult humor are sure to keep parents entertained and children happy. The success of this classic helped to establish Dreamworks as a strong competitor for Disney.
Usually, you would expect a tale of missing royalty to come from Disney, but this movie was produced in 1997 by 20th Century Fox. The movie is based on a real Russian legend of a duchess escaping the execution of her entire family. In this loose adaptation, the Duchess is depicted as an amnesiac searching for her family when she is joined by two con men wishing to use her for her resemblance to the missing duchess. This beautifully produced film will surely leave you in awe.
By far one of my favorite childhood movies, “The Road to El Dorado” features two con artists, Tulio and Miguel, as they embark on a journey to find the legendary City of Gold. In a miraculous twist, they find themselves in an extensive con pretending to be gods in the city of El Dorado. This comedic family film displays a beautiful color palette and imaginative animation that successfully immerses you in their world. With contributing artists of Elton John and Tim Rice, this soundtrack will be guaranteed to stick in your head for a few days.
“The Prince of Egypt” is a simplified version of the biblical book of Exodus and is intended to make these events easier for children to understand. The movie follows Moses’ life as he discovers who he is and journey through becoming a man of God. He faces challenges when his brother Pharaoh refuses to acknowledge God’s demands to let his people, the Hebrews, go. The movie successfully makes the content easy to follow and interesting to watch, while also providing a wonderful soundtrack.
This is a movie about a big-time villain with a soft spot for three orphan girls. During his biggest heist ever, Gru adopts orphans, Margo, Edith and Agnes, and uses them to gain access to his enemy’s lair. His plan ultimately changes as he becomes attached to them. This heart-warming movie provides a constant stream of laughter mixed with action and sentiment. And let’s not forget about the lovable Minions who add a lot of the humor.
“Spirit” is the story of life in the old west told by a rebellious stallion experiencing humans for the first time. The stallion proves to be unbreakable when the US Army captures and attempts to tame him. He escapes with the help of a Lakota Native American, Little Creek, who brings him back to his tribe. This movie takes a refreshing turn from the Disney norm of having talking animals and puts a realistic spin on it: the film is narrated by the stallion, but he at no point speaks directly to the humans. This inspiring tale is a must-see for any free-spirit.
The rise of the Boogeyman forces the Guardians to assemble in order to keep the children of the world safe. Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Toothfairy and the Sandman ask the mischievous Jack Frost to join their team to stop Pitch from striking fear into all the children. This action-packed, feel-good movie depicts the childhood fantasy figures in a non-traditional way and shows how important they are for kids.
This tale puts an entertaining twist on the legend of King Arthur when a rogue knight plans to steal Excalibur and take over Camelot. Fortunately, his plans falter when the sword is lost in the Forbidden Forest. Kayley, the daughter of a former knight of the round table, goes out searching for the sword when she meets Garrett, a blind man living in the forest, who joins her in her attempt to save Camelot. This exciting storyline and the interesting cast of the characters keep the audience on their toes.
Young Hiccup has never really fit in among his Viking peers. He never had the heart to kill a dragon, but instead started a trend of riding them. This movie holds some of the best action scenes in animation along with a valuable lesson of getting to know your enemies because they might not be as bad as you think. Like any great movie, there’s sentiment, action, humor and, of course, dragons. The lovable Toothless will make every kid want to be a dragon rider.
In this fantastical adventure, Sinbad, a pirate, finds himself falsely accused of a crime and to prove his innocence he must travel to the edge of the world to retrieve the stolen Book of Piece. With an evil goddess and a sea of monsters working against him, this proves to be a difficult task. Not to mention, he finds himself in the middle of a complex love triangle. The intricate plot of this movie will be sure to keep you on the edge of your seat.

Remember the joke, “just keep it in your closet! It’ll just come back in style eventually”? Well, 2018 is turning out to be proof that this statement is more than just a joke.
What makes 2018 stand out is we decided to unearth things from multiple decades.
From makeup, jewelry and clothing, this trend is certainly making its way through 2018. These are just 12 of our former fashion trends we will most likely be dying to wear this year.
For this year’s New York Fashion Week Spring ’18 Runway, there were plenty of bouncy curls. These are not just any bouncy curls either; many designers like Sherri Hill represented the natural look. A curl that is flowy and bounces back. It is an effortless-looking style for anyone. A how-to was also available to achieve this look.
This ’90s look started with Naomi Campbell on the runway and is now being brought back. And who should we thank for this? None other than Rihanna. Her new line of universally flattering lip gloss called Fenty Gloss Bomb gave the models on the runway a natural lip that is ready for any occasion.
Who wouldn’t want to wear a color when it is referred to as “ultra?” Pantone has officially named UltraViolet as the 2018 color of the year. This vibrant hue of purple takes us back to the ’70s when bright, neon colors were the way to go.
Remember the double denim outfits that took over the ’90s and 2000s? Well, double denim is quickly becoming a staple piece in 2018. Designers are opting to use denim for any occasion. This time, they are calling it “polished” double denim to describe the tailored look. Have you ever seen such a versatile fabric such as denim?
Puffed up sleeves — or balloon sleeves — were all the rage this year as well. This is definitely a revamped version of the ’80s puffed up shoulders they used to wear. Designers like Burberry and JOUR/NE are the ones to thank for our puffy sleeves in 2018.
Who would have EVER thought that bicycle shorts would take over 2018? But that is exactly what is happening. The little form-fitting shorts people wore in the 90s are making a huge comeback. Now, bicycle shorts are being designed to fit any occasion. Kim Kardashian is often photographed wearing bicycle shorts. I guess we have her to thank for this new trend?
The ’70s are back! Designers were very inspired by iconic ’70s looks for this Spring 2018. Neon and embellished bustiers, sequins all over the clothing and power pantsuits for women. Designers like Gucci, Paco Rabanne and Michael Halpern supply us with oodles of inspiration.
Carrie Bradshaw used to say, “no woman who works at W Magazine and lives on Perry Street would be caught dead at a hip downtown restaurant wearing a scrunchie.” Well, she would definitely be shocked if she saw us in 2018. Scrunchies are making a comeback in 2018. During Mansur Gavriel’s first runway show, the models strutted the runway in designer scrunchies. Scrunchies in various designs and materials make for the rebirth of Michelle Tanner’s favorite accessory.
Nylon bags of our 90s days are back. Prada is responsible for this trend. There were purses, shoulder bags, backpacks and bum bag all made of nylon. To give it a fresh twist many were adorned with spikes and pops of bright colors to go along with their comic book girl theme.
Just because Pantone named UltraViolet the color of 2018, doesn’t mean lavender is going to lay down and die. This pastel hue tugs at our millennial heartstrings. Victoria Beckham had her models wear vibrant shades of the pastel hue of our childhood.
All grunge kids rejoice! The checkered pattern is in. Demna Gvasalia of Balenciaga debuted plaid as the street style of 2018. They came in coats, dresses, oversized shirts and, the most popular, as blazers.
Oversized earrings are back in style. So long statement necklaces, its the ear’s turn to shine. The ’80s are in full swing for earring fashion. was among one of the designers to debut the coolest statement earrings for all models’ ears.
And the one thing that definitely makes this trend stand out? Designers are not just creating styles that look good; they are going for styles that empower us. They are making clothing, jewelry and makeup that is inclusive and diverse.
They are cutting ties to clothing made for specific genders. Plus size models are being used regularly.
In a time when women need to feel empowered and should celebrate their differences, designers are stepping up and are all saying with their fashion:
“Women are badasses, and it is about time we all treat them that way.”
Below is a video put together by my 13 year old Nephew’s School friend – It really made my day today – Something like Jollof Rice that we would often take for granted has such deep meaning to this young man …
I hope you enjoy the video
Naz and Cleo first approached us 2 years ago about catering for their wedding. We worked with them to put together a menu that they felt would reflect their wedding day. However due to bereavement within the family the wedding had to be postponed and so to 2017.
Firstly the choice of Venue …Port Lympne Wild Animal Park – well this one was new to me. I did not know what to expect until I arrived at the Venue for an onsite visit with the Bride & Groom. I will be honest that my initial visit did not go well as the client was hoping for us to deliver a Bowl service on the day, however on arriving at the venue for the onsite visit – it quickly became clear that the current Kitchen facilities was inadequate for us to be able to deliver a bowl service. I explained this to Cleo and with grate reluctance on her part and persuasion from Naz she agreed to change the service to Buffet service.
Fast forward a couple of Months – I get a call from Cleo … I really want this Bowl Service as opposed to a Buffet service – can we meet on site again please .. I agreed – to my surprise the venue had made some significant changes to their kitchen facilities and it was now possible for me to say to Cleo that yes we can deliver a Bowl service for you here..
Cleo was so happy … she had.gotten what she had always wanted … so she said to me would you like to take a walk around the Park … did you know they have Tigers etc here in the park .. I said that would be great so we started walking and just as we rounded a corner I was shocked … there was a HUGE Tiger in front of us just 2-3 feet away. I am ashamed to say that all my male shivery left me – I froze on the spot. You know you see these things on TV and you think OH Tiger !!…. well when they are just 2 feet away you realise just how Huge these animals are .. I mean HUGE … its head was massive and its PAWS !!!!!! .. Well Cleo burst out laughing … can you imagine that???? On hearing her laughing I had to quickly get myself back together – Yes there was a wire fence between us and the Tiger but that close I did not see the wire fence – just this HUGE beast. Our walk through the park soon came to an end and I left Cleo … still laughing!!!
How awesome … the weather was great the setting was magical and the guests had an amazing time. This was truly a day that the guests will not forget – imagine going to a wedding and having the opportunity to see tigers and elephants on the dame day. This was just very different to any other wedding we have done so far. As you can see from the pictures the guests looked like they had a wonderful time.
